Business Assistance, Grants & Investment Packages
Capital Wales is a unique initiative set up to attract inward investment to South East Wales. To date it has generated investment from 61 new companies and from a variety of different target sectors.
"The aim is to establish South East Wales in the top quarter of the most prosperous regions in Europe,"
Sheila Davies
Chair of Capital Wales and Director of Development and Regeneration at Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council.
"Capital Wales can offer a diverse range of grants and incentives to new and existing businesses - with the aim of encouraging new investment projects and promoting the development of industry and commerce to compete on international terms.
Most of Wales is currently categorised as a Convergence Programme Area region within the European Union. This provides many areas in the region – most notably the Valleys - with the highest possible levels of financial assistance and resources that are available throughout the European Union.
Incentives are provided through a number of bodies, co-ordinated by the Welsh Assembly Government and the Local Authorities.
Regional, national and European grants are available, though incentives are concentrated in Wales' Assisted Areas, which are geographical parts of the country selected by the UK and European Union for specific help.
Selective Assistance (RSA) is the main grant available for investments in manufacturing/assembly industries and businesses in service industries that supply a national rather than local market where displacement of other similar employment is likely to occur."
