£4 MILLION INVESTMENT BY ITALIAN FOOD PACKAGING COMPANY WILLCREATE 55 JOBS

An Italian food packaging company that invested more than £30m in establishing a facility in Blackwood five years ago is expanding its operations and creating another 55 new jobs.

Admiral sets sail for Newport

Leading Welsh employer Admiral Group is strengthening its position in Wales by opening its third Welsh site in the city of Newport. The new site will have a capacity for 450 employees to be filled within three years.

CHARTIST TRIBUTE UNVEILED

An impressive 8 metre tall sculpture of a Chartist protester striding towards Newport with pike in hand has become a new Blackwood landmark.

The towering figure is situated on a roundabout at the entrance to the Chartist Bridge on the Sirhowy Enterprise Way between Oakdale and Blackwood.

NEW ROAD CONNECTS COMMUNITIES

A new section of road connecting the communities of Aberbargoed and Bargoed has opened to traffic this week.

The link road, which crosses the valley and includes an impressive 200m viaduct, forms part of the eagerly anticipated Angel Way road scheme that will help breathe new life into the whole area.

CLEAN, GREEN TRIBRID MINIBUS – A FIRST FOR EUROPE

A carbon free minibus powered by three different green technologies – the first of its kind in Europe – will be unveiled and officially launched in Wales.

The clean, green emission free tribrid bus is the result of an international collaboration, led and co-ordinated in Wales by the University of Glamorgan with funding from the Energy Savings Trust, sponsorship from the Welsh Assembly Government and the support of industry.
